About

I was born in Hong Kong in 1967 and moved to the UK aged 5.
After finishing school I attended the University of East Anglia and was awarded a BA (Hons) degree (IIi) in Philosophy, Politics & Economics.
I worked in the USA at Summer Camp for 11 summers between 1991 and 2005, which is where I first worked with children with ASD.
My interest in working with Children with special needs grew as I worked as a resource center worker offering respite care for children with learning disabilities, some of whom had autism.
I also worked as a care practitioner in a children’s home.
During 1997/98 I studied for a postgraduate certificate in education at University of East Anglia and worked as an early years teacher (nursery and reception age here, equivalent to kindergarten in the USA).
Between 1999 and 2001 I worked as curriculum support teacher in a Resourced Provision in a mainstream primary school before teaching Year 5 children for 1 year.
I took some time out to develop my computer skills to make me a more effective teacher before returning to full time teaching in 2004 as the Manager of Provision for Children with ASD which remains my full time occupation.
In 2005 I decided to embark upon a project to share my experiences with others culminating in my ebook and associated projects.
